Venturcom BXP 3.1

Venturcom BXP is a network boot and image management platform developed by VenturCom Corporation (and its subsidiaries) that enables Windows PCs to run disklessly by streaming a centrally managed operating system image over the local network. Using standard PXE-based boot services, BXP delivers consistent desktop environments to many endpoints while keeping a single “golden” image under centralized control. Administrators can update once, roll back with versioned images, and rapidly redeploy machines, which reduces support overhead in settings such as computer labs, classrooms, call centers, kiosks, and training rooms.

The solution includes server components for image storage and boot services, along with a lightweight client that starts the OS from the network and can optionally cache user changes without altering the master image. BXP integrates with existing Windows infrastructure, including DHCP and Active Directory, and supports flexible driver management to accommodate diverse hardware. Benefits include faster recovery from failures, improved security through stateless endpoints, and lower total cost of ownership compared with maintaining individual hard-drive images. The technology behind BXP later evolved into the OS streaming solutions offered under the Ardence brand, which were subsequently acquired by Citrix.
